Convert STEP to GLB for the Web

Turn a STEP file into a GLB that loads in web viewers, AR and game engines. Give each part a material in VIZON Studio first so the GLB looks right.

VIZON Studio assigning wood and metal materials to the parts of a STEP file
Studio: a material per part before exporting GLB.

What you can do

Parts stay separate

Each CAD part becomes its own named mesh in the GLB.

Add real materials

Wood, metal, plastic and more per part in Studio, saved into the GLB.

Correct scale and axis

CAD millimetres are converted to metres with Y up, as glTF expects.

glTF as well

Export .gltf instead if your pipeline needs JSON.

Or an editable mesh

Convert to mesh to keep editing it in the 3D Model Creator.

Share without exporting

Or skip the file and share a link or embed of the model.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my CAD model need materials before GLB export?

STEP carries little appearance data. Without materials the GLB is plain grey, so add them in Studio.

What units does the GLB use?

Metres with Y up, following the glTF standard. VIZON converts from CAD millimetres for you.
