Add or Change Materials on a 3D Model

What you can do

Presets

Wood, oak, walnut, metal, steel, brass, chrome, concrete, stone, marble, fabric, leather, glass, water, light and more.

Surface settings

Colour, roughness, metalness, opacity and emissive glow on every material.

PBR texture maps

Base colour, normal, roughness, metalness, ambient occlusion, emissive and height maps.

Per-face materials

In edit mode, select faces and give them their own material slot.

Procedural textures

Planks, bricks, tiles, marble, fabric and other patterns generated without image files.

STL gets materials too

STL has no materials of its own. Add them in VIZON and export GLB to keep them.

How to change the material of a GLB model

  1. Upload the model and open it in the 3D Model Creator.
  2. Click the object, or switch to edit mode and select faces.
  3. Open the Material tab and pick a preset, or adjust colour, roughness and metalness.
  4. Add texture maps if you have them.
  5. Download the model as GLB.

Frequently asked questions

Which format keeps materials?

GLB and glTF store PBR materials and textures. STL stores none, so export GLB to keep your materials.

Can I use my own textures?

Yes. Load image files into the PBR map slots, and they are packed into the GLB on export.

Can different faces have different materials?

Yes. Select faces in edit mode and assign a material slot to them.
